President Donald Trump says his plan to pay off the national debt is “a good deal” and is “very reasonable.”
The letter from his National Debt Oversight Council was released Wednesday and was sent to all 50 states.
Trump said the plan will be made public “within a week.”
Trump said he’s “proud of our plan.”
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the debt resolution plan.
The debt resolution will be part of the budget Trump signed into law in May, which was criticized by the Democratic-controlled Congress.
The letter said that “the national debt now exceeds $18 trillion,” and that Trump is “now working to eliminate it.”
“It is clear that we have a lot of work to do and the American people will not be satisfied with what they have seen,” the letter read.
“President Trump is determined to make America great again.”
